Todd McCormack

Investigator / Crash Analyst
Certified Private Investigator

Todd McCormack is a member of the Australasian and South Pacific Association of Collision Investigators (ASPACI) and committee member of the Australian branch of IAATI (International Association of Auto Theft Investigators).

Todd was a sworn member with the New Zealand Police for eight years, gaining three years experience as a crash analyst/investigator in the Auckland Central Serious Crash Unit.

Todd also spent three years attached to a traffic inquiry unit and two and half years as an incident patrol officer.

Todd is a qualified Forensic Mapper, and while working in the Police he forensically mapped numerous crash scenes and serious crime scenes for the Auckland Central Serious Crash Unit and Criminal Investigation branch to produce accurate scene diagrams for use in court.

Todd has been employed as an independent investigator/crash analyst since leaving the Police in October 2004 and called upon to investigate numerous incidents involving fraud, theft, fire and vehicle crashes.

During the time spent employed by the Police and since leaving Todd has:

  • Investigated and analysed hundreds of criminal, traffic incidents and crashes of all types.
  • Developed an expert knowledge of the various New Zealand Acts of Parliament pertinent to criminal and traffic investigations.
  • Participated in several crash experiments, developing valuable knowledge of key aspects of motor vehicle collision dynamics.

Todd has completed and successfully passed the following courses:

  • Basic Crash Analysis Course - Texas A & M University
  • Advanced Crash Analysis Course - Texas A & M University
  • Advanced Crash Reconstruction Course - Texas A & M University
  • Pedestrian & Bicycle Crash Analysis Course - Royal New Zealand Police College
  • Forensic Mapping Course - Royal New Zealand Police College
  • 3209 Computer Assisted Drawing - Otago Polytechnic
  • 3203 & 3204 Process Science (physics) - Otago Polytechnic
  • 3031 Mathematics - Otago Polytechnic
  • Level One & two Static Rollover Threshold certifier's course - Land Transport New Zealand
  • Commercial Vehicle Investigation course - Institute of Police Technology & Management University of North Florida
  • In addition Todd holds licenses and has experience driving cars, motorcycles, and truck and trailer units. Todd also has a basic commercial pilot's license.

James Maddox, LL.B

Investigator / Practising Senior Criminal Barrister

James was a sworn Police Officer employed by Birmingham Police for 6 years before immigrating to New Zealand.

He served with the New Zealand Police as a sworn officer for 24 years before resigning from the Police at the rank of Sergeant.

Since leaving the Police he has been a practicing barrister focusing mainly in the criminal courts.

  • International Association of Auto Theft Investigators, (IAATI ) Australasian committee member.
  • Regular attendee of IAATI training seminars.
  • Completed NZQA Private Investigation certificate with Distinction.
  • Background in Sales and Management
  • Angharad is a member of ANZIIF - Australian an New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance
